The Hydra is the most advanced small wave board I have ever designed!
It combines more than 25 years of my shaping expertise from small wave fish designs and mini wave hybrids. The basic concept is an overall very flat board rocker paired with a mix of an almost traditional fish outline and a snowboard inspired sidecut. The mixture of the special double concave “Hydra-Hull” in the back and the “Split Diamond Tail”, which both shortens the rail and at the same time gives the edge more “bite” at the back during the turn, together with the overall flat deck and the forgiving (rounder) rails, make for a very versatile, adaptable board that can still be surfed radically with its very wide tail. - Matt Biolos
